Today was the shop owner wrap-up meeting for Quilt Minnesota. 56 of the 75 shop owners were in attendance. (The Project Manager forgot to take a picture – ARGHHH!!) It truly was a great working meeting.
The wrap-up meeting is the time we recap 2013 and brainstorming for 2014. All of your passports are brought to the meeting and now begin the process of being sorted, counted and validated. To put this into perspective – we handed out close to ** 10,000 passports!! ** True, not all of you handed them back in at the end but a lot of you DID . . .
On Thursday, September 19th is the Section Lead meeting in which we draw for the cruise/gift certificates as well as choose the fabric for 2014. So let me notify the winners first and then I’ll jump on facebook and tell you all about it!
Back on August first we offered a drawing both on facebook and the Blog. A handful of you responded.
Will the following people email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide your mailing address so we can ship out your free large panel.
facebook – Kristin Gwena, Kathi Bradley
Blog – Kim, Cindy Hamilton
We appreciate your comments.
Tomorrow at this time the 7th Annual Quilt Minnesota Shop Hop will be in FULL SWING!
Shop Owners across the state are frantically getting ready for your visit.
There are kits to cut, patterns to write and fat quarters to fold.
Where do plan start your shop hop?
Are you taking one of the section buses?
Are you hopping alone or with family and friends?
How many stores do you plan to visit?
How many sections will you finish?
Are you visiting the whole state?
Are you shopping from a list or are you looking for inspiration?
Leave a comment below and tell us about your hop . . .
At that time we’ll randomly choose two lucky winners from facebook, and two lucky winners from the blog, to receive one complimentary large panel from this years shop hop fabrics. We’ll announce the winners and contact you for your mailing address.
Good Luck and Safe Travels from all of the 2013 Participating Shops!
Some of the participating shops in each of the sections, contributed the attached information on their favorite places to eat and local attractions. Please use this information to further enjoy the shop hop!

Here’s a picture of Amber Cole (age 11) with her Grand Champion quilt entered in the Roseau County Fair.
Amber started this quilt when she was only 8 years old! Some of you may recognize it as the Holly Taylor/Moda Shop Hop fabric from a few years ago. Amber and her mom went on the Minnesota Shop Hop together and collected the blocks from each store they stopped at.
Amber’s been working diligently to complete the quilt for three years and, once finished, decided to enter it in the open class exhibits at the fair. The quilt was judged and awarded a Grand Champion ribbon. When the judges found out how young the quilter was, they were amazed. But we’re not! Amber has been hanging around Northern Exposure Quilt Shop with her mom and grandma since they opened, and has been sewing with them for years. We couldn’t be more proud of our next generation of quilters, and the women who teach them the craft; their passion ensures a bright future for our art.
Congratulations to Amber!
